2025 Honda Odyssey Car Seat and Stroller Fit Guide

The 2025 Honda Odyssey handles car seats capably without being frictionless. It takes three car seats across but only when it is fitted with the second-row middle seat.

Fit grades from Cars.com's Car Seat Check, conducted by certified child passenger safety technicians. Seat dimensions are the manufacturers' published figures for the products we carry. Which seats we recommend, and why, is our own editorial judgment, from the catalog we stock and fit in person in Sumner, WA.

Which car seats we would put in a 2025 Honda Odyssey

These picks are shaped by what the fit check actually found here: the head restraint has to move before a seat sits flush; the buckles are hard for a child to work unaided. Widths are the widest published figure the manufacturer gives. Stock and pricing as of 2026-08-04. We stock 17 car seats with a published width, so the same names recur across our guides; the ordering and the reasoning are what differ.

Romer Juni Infant Car Seat with Versa Base
16.9" wide · 28.1" front to back · $499.99
At 16.9" it is the narrowest carrier we can ship today, which leaves the most usable room beside it in the Honda Odyssey.
Romer Veni Convertible Car Seat
17.0" wide · 20.5" front to back · $599.99
At 17.0" this is the narrowest convertible we can ship today, and on the Honda Odyssey width is what decides whether a third seat ever fits beside it.
UPPAbaby Alta V2 Booster Seat
17.5" wide · 20.0" front to back · $199.99
The Honda Odyssey graded B on the booster in the second row, and the fit check flagged the second-row buckles as hard for a child to work. A low, simple booster keeps the belt path and the buckle as reachable as this vehicle allows, but expect to help at first.

The picks above are chosen on width, which is what decides whether another seat or an adult fits beside them. The measured width and depth of every car seat we carry is published in one place, so you can check our reasoning against your own measurements.

The grades at a glance

Test Grade

Forward-facing convertible, second row A

LATCH, third row A
Forward-facing convertible, third row A
Booster, third row B
Third-row entry A

Where the anchors are

Second row: exposed for easy access and connection, and three sets when the middle seat is fitted. Third row: two sets, also exposed.

Two in the second row, well labeled and easy to see. Three in the third row, all easy to find, though only the middle one is clearly marked.

Installing an infant seat

Easy to install, and the 5-foot-6-inch front passenger had loads of legroom.

Installing a convertible

Easy, with ample legroom for the front passenger.

Earns an A in both the second and third rows.

Boosters and the buckle-yourself years

The Odyssey's floppy buckles could be tough for kids to grasp and use alone. In the third row the middle buckle comes down from the ceiling and blocks the driver's view, so that is not the spot for a booster.

The third row

The easy-slide button opens a passage to the third row well, but not with a car seat installed. The step-in may be tall for smaller children. Large head restraints have to be removed by folding the seats.

Check your vehicle manual before moving or removing a head restraint. Not every restraint is designed to come out, and where one is removed the seating position still has to give your child head support to the top of the ears, either from the vehicle seat back or from the car seat itself.

Three car seats across

Yes, but only when it is fitted with the second-row middle seat. The narrowest combination we stock for a newborn, a toddler and a big kid is Romer Juni Infant Car Seat with Versa Base (16.9"), Romer Veni Convertible Car Seat (17.0"), UPPAbaby Alta V2 Booster Seat (17.5"), totalling 51.4". Measure your bench between the door panels at seat-cushion height before you buy, because that total has no allowance for shell overlap.

Which strollers suit a large cargo area

Space is not your constraint. Buy the stroller that suits how you actually use it.

These are the strollers we would actually recommend for this vehicle, with their folded dimensions so you can sanity check against your own load floor.

Stroller Folded (L x W x H) Price
Silver Cross Reef 2 Multi-Terrain Modular Stroller 19.0" x 23.5" x 29.0" $1,200
Maxi-Cosi Fame Modular Stroller 30.93" x 24.51" x 15.76" $1,000
Romer Tura Stroller 38.5" x 18.5" x 22.25" $950
Bumbleride Era Full-Size Reversible Stroller 31.5" x 24.0" x 13.0" $949
Veer Switch&Roll Stroller 15.0" x 25.5" x 36.0" $949
UPPAbaby Vista V3 Stroller 17.3" x 25.7" x 33.3" $900
Veer Switch&Jog 19.0" x 27.0" x 35.0" $899
Bumbleride Indie All-Terrain Stroller 31.5" x 24.5" x 13.0" $799

Four things that apply whatever you drive

Lower anchors have a weight limit, and it is lower than most parents expect. NHTSA advises against using the lower anchors once the combined weight of your child and the car seat reaches 65 pounds. Your seat's label or manual gives the maximum child weight for lower-anchor use; where it does not, subtract the seat's own weight from 65. Past that point the seat belt install is the correct one, and it is no less safe.

Use the top tether on every forward-facing install. NHTSA recommends it whether the seat is installed with the lower anchors or the seat belt, as long as both the car seat manufacturer and the vehicle manufacturer permit it. Check your car seat's tether weight limit too, and stop using the tether once your child exceeds it even while they still fit the seat.

Do not borrow outboard lower anchors for the center seat. Unless your vehicle manual specifically says the center position may use the inner anchors from the two outboard positions, it may not. Where the center has no anchors of its own, install there with the seat belt.

Rear-facing for as long as the seat allows. Keep your child rear-facing until they reach the height or weight maximum of their convertible seat, not until a birthday. Our guides to how long to stay rear-facing, LATCH versus the seat belt and booster readiness cover each of these properly.

Bring the car in. A fit check and install help come with every car seat we sell, at our Sumner, WA showroom. Our certified Child Passenger Safety Technician checks your install in your actual Honda Odyssey, looks at the angle and the belt path, and shows you how to do it yourself. Walk-ins are welcome, but call ahead on (253) 299-6221 so the CPST is there when you arrive. Plan your visit.
