UPPAbaby Vista V3 vs Nuna MIXX Next: Which Stroller Should You Buy?
Buy the UPPAbaby Vista V3 (from $899.99) if a second child could arrive while this stroller is still in use, because the same frame takes a RumbleSeat V3 second seat ($299.99). Buy the Nuna MIXX Next ($900) if you are planning for one child and want the stroller seat itself usable from birth. Nuna rates that seat from birth to 50 lb, while UPPAbaby rates the Vista V3 toddler seat from 3 months.
Who each stroller is not for
The Vista V3 is not for you if...
you are sure about one child and short on trunk depth. Folded with its seat attached, UPPAbaby lists it at 33.3 in tall and 25.7 in wide, and its toddler seat needs a bassinet, the Infant SnugSeat or an infant car seat before 3 months. You would be paying for a second-seat system you never use.
The MIXX Next is not for you if...
there is a real chance of a second baby in the next few years. Nuna lists four modes for it and none of them seats two children. A second child means a second stroller, and the lowest-priced Nuna double we sell, the TRVL DUBL, is $950.

Prices update automatically from our store. Specs: each maker's copy on our product listings for the Vista V3, MIXX Next and RumbleSeat V3. The two weights use each maker's own basis, so a 2 lb gap on paper is not a like-for-like weighing. "Folded box" is our arithmetic: length x width x height of each listed fold.
What a second child costs on each
This is the number that decides most of these purchases, so here it is both ways at today's prices.
| Route | What you buy | Total |
|---|---|---|
| Vista V3, grow it | Vista V3 $999.99 + RumbleSeat V3 $299.99 | $1,299.98 ($1,199.98 in Savannah) |
| MIXX Next, then a double | MIXX Next $900 + TRVL DUBL $950 | $1,850 |
Prices update automatically from our store. Totals are our arithmetic from the listings named in each row. The TRVL DUBL is the lowest-priced Nuna double we list.
Against the Vista in most colors, the MIXX-then-double route costs $550.02 more, and you end up owning two strollers. The two routes carry the second child differently. The RumbleSeat V3 rides on the Vista frame as a second seat from 3 months (from birth with UPPAbaby's SnugSeat accessory, per the RumbleSeat listing) up to 40 lb or 36 in. The TRVL DUBL is a side-by-side double that Nuna rates from birth to 50 lb per seat and lists at 30.5 in wide, with a PIPA series infant seat fitting on its wider seat only.
If you only ever need one seat, flip that around: the RumbleSeat capacity is frame length and hardware you push every day for nothing. Our single or double guide covers the wider choice. If you are weighing the PIPA against the Mesa V3 or Aria V2 as the infant seat that clicks onto either frame, our Nuna vs UPPAbaby travel system guide compares the seats by daily routine.
Fold and trunk fit
The listed folds are different shapes, which is why a single "which is smaller" answer misleads. The MIXX Next folds into a low, long block, 19 in tall. The Vista V3 folds tall and narrow front to back, and it gets noticeably smaller when you take its seat off: our computed folded box drops from about 14,800 to about 10,690 cu in, below the MIXX Next's 12,330. The trade is a second piece to lift into the trunk.
In practice: if your trunk lid or cargo cover sits low, compare the MIXX Next's 19 in folded height with the Vista's 25.7 in width when it lies on its side. Measure your opening before you order. Our fit guides by vehicle cover specific models.
The newborn months on each
On the MIXX Next, Nuna's listing says the seat lays true flat for a newborn, so a bassinet is optional. If you want one, the MIXX Next bassinet with stand is $500.
On the Vista V3, UPPAbaby rates the toddler seat from 3 months. Before then your baby rides in the Bassinet V3 ($279.99, from birth to 20 lb or until your baby can push up on hands and knees, per its listing), in the toddler seat with the Infant SnugSeat ($69.99, named on the Vista V3 listing), or in a Mesa V3 or Aria V2 infant car seat. So the cheapest from-birth Vista setup without a car seat is the stroller plus the SnugSeat, $969.98 in Savannah.
Whether a bassinet is worth it, and what each stand adds, is covered with full prices in our travel system vs separate guide. A stroller seat is not a sleep space: the American Academy of Pediatrics advises moving a baby who falls asleep in a stroller to a firm, flat sleep surface (healthychildren.org).
Car seats, adapters and generations
- Same-brand seats. UPPAbaby's Vista V3 listing says the Mesa V3, Aria V2 and bassinet attach without adapters. Nuna's MIXX Next listing says it pairs with all PIPA series seats using the ring adapter in the box.
- Mixing brands. A Nuna PIPA can ride on a Vista V3 with an adapter the maker lists for your exact seat. Which adapter, and what it costs, is in our cross-brand compatibility chart. Going the other way, no Nuna stroller we sell lists an UPPAbaby infant seat.
- MIXX or MIXX Next? The MIXX we sell is the MIXX Next, the version with the compact fold-away axle and the MagneTech Secure Snap magnetic buckle.
- Vista V2 or V3? We sell the Vista V3. Our RumbleSeat V3 listing says it fits Vistas from 2015 on, including the V2 and V3, if you are adding a second seat to an older frame.
Vista V3 vs MIXX Next: questions
Can the Nuna MIXX Next become a double stroller?
No. Nuna lists four modes for the MIXX Next: infant car seat, bassinet, and the stroller seat facing you or facing the world. None seats two children. For two, Nuna sells separate doubles such as the TRVL DUBL.
Can a newborn ride in the Vista V3 toddler seat?
Not on its own. UPPAbaby rates the Vista V3 toddler seat from 3 months to 50 lb, and from birth only with its bassinet or Infant SnugSeat accessory. A Mesa V3 or Aria V2 infant car seat also attaches to the Vista V3 directly.
Which is lighter, the Vista V3 or the MIXX Next?
On the makers' own figures, the Vista V3 is 27 lb for frame and seat with canopy, wheels and basket, and the MIXX Next is 29 lb true weight. The two makers weigh on different bases, so treat the 2 lb gap as approximate.
How much does it cost to carry two children on each?
A Vista V3 plus a RumbleSeat V3 second seat is the lower-cost way to carry two in most colors at our prices. Keeping the MIXX Next means adding a separate Nuna double such as the TRVL DUBL, and you own two strollers.
Can I return a stroller?
Yes, within the terms on our refund and return policy page. Delivery details are on our shipping information page.
